From today I will begin a set of new entries on the birds we managed to capture with our new toy the canon zoom lens - along with the pictures.
This picture was taken by Nitin in Shimla- These birds are frequently seen around our house, going up and down the trunks of the trees like quick silver. It took him quite some time and many blurred and 'where is the bird?' pictures to get this one finally.
I am using Oxfords 'Birds of the Indian sub - continent' to try to identify our feathered friends.
The bird in the picture is a Bar-tailed Treecreeper. This is interesting for the book also goes on to say that this one is found in the hills of Pakistan, W Himalayas and Arunachal Pradesh. Well they have shifted home ground, definitely :).
